Good news for all cycling fans: The premium HD channel DF1 has secured the rights to the cycling classic Sixdays Weekend (January 30/31) and will broadcast the star-studded event live and exclusively on free-to-air TV.

The Sixdays Weekend in Berlin is one of the most prestigious and traditional track cycling events worldwide. Also known as the “Six-Day Race,” the Sixdays Weekend is an extraordinary blend of endurance, strategy, and teamwork that has thrilled cycling fans for over a century.

Year after year, top international athletes meet in the capital to compete in high-class and tactically demanding races. The event stands not only for top athletic performances but also for excitement, dynamism, and great emotions.

The unique atmosphere, in particular, makes the Sixdays Weekend an extraordinary experience: Thrilling races, an enthusiastic audience, and a modern event concept combine top-level sport with entertainment. This combination has made the Six Days Weekend a fixture on the international cycling calendar and thrills not only die-hard cycling fans. The main goal is simple: complete more laps than the competition within the allotted time.

The teams consist of two riders who alternate during the race on the velodrome, allowing one rider to rest while the other races. This relay format adds a strategic layer, as the teams must decide when to change riders to maintain optimal speed and endurance.

Both race days will be commentated by Felix Gerhardt, with Christian Stoll and Robert Bengsch reporting live from the track.

“The Sixdays Weekend is back on TV. We’re delighted, but above all, it’s great news for the many thousands of cycling fans who can’t make it to the Velodrome. The incredible atmosphere from the packed stands will certainly be palpable on screen. With the 113th Berlin Sixday Race, we’re delivering a thrilling product and are looking forward to working with DF1. This partnership will further develop the Sixdays Weekend for the future,” says Valts Miltovics, organizer and managing director of Madison Sports GmbH.

“With the Sixdays Weekend, we’re bringing one of the most spectacular cycling events directly to our viewers. The broadcast is also a strong signal for DF1’s sporting focus. This long-standing event combines top-level sport with great emotion – exactly what we want to offer our audience. We thank all our partners for their trust,” says David Müller, managing director of the TV channel DF1.
